Locopalooza Show Choir Competition
Saturday, January 28, 2012
The 13th annual Locopalooza kicks off at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with an exhibition performance by the Altoona Middle School show choir. Teams from Chippewa Falls, Colby, Eau Claire Memorial, Fort Atkinson, Green Bay East, Holmen, Milton, Neenah, North St. Paul, and Tomah will perform during the daytime preliminary competition, with the top six scoring teams competing in the evening finals. Altoona High School's show choirs, Locomotion and Enginuity, will perform. Concessions will be available throughout the day.
Admission is $10 for the daytime preliminary competition (9 am-5 pm), $10 for the evening finals (6-10 pm), or $15 for an all-day pass. Tickets are available at the door.

| Open Enrollment for 2012/13 |
| The Open Enrollment application period for the 2012/13 school year begins on Monday, February 6 and runs through Friday, February 24, 2012. Applications are submitted online or directly to the nonresident school district, and no late or early applications can be accepted for any reason. Students may apply to a total of three nonresident school districts.
The online application process will be available as of midnight on February 6, until 4:00 p.m. on February 24. Click the link above for more information.

| Energy Management Update |
| The energy savings continue! Between June and November 2011, electric use at the high school decreased by 16%, 15% at the middle school and 24% at the elementary, resulting in a total energy savings of $11,674! | Eau Claire County Survey |
| The Alliance for Substance Abuse Prevention (ASAP) is conducting the community perceptions survey about drug use and abuse in Eau Claire County. All adults in the county are encouraged to take this 15-minute on-line survey. Participation is confidential. |

| March 2011 School Perceptions Survey Results |
| To assist in understanding the issues surrounding the lack of support for the referendum, a survey was created in collaboration with the students from the INGMT-750 Organizational Development Course and Dr. Kersten, University Of Wisconsin, Stout. This survey consisted of both qualitative and quantitative measures to gain the best insight into the views of the public. The audience selected for this survey was the parents and staff of the Altoona School District. |

The Altoona Athletic Boosters is the only organization that produces a "sports calendar" or poster to promote our athletic events. If your business has been contacted to buy advertising by any company or organization other than the Altoona Athletic Boosters, you may have been "scammed." These companies operate under names like Athletic Boosters Inc. or Sport Media. In August, Sports Media fraudulently "sold an ad" in the amount of $139 to a local business - supposedly for an 2010/11 Winter Sports Poster for Altoona High School.
